Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr have an entire conversation without words - and the audience knows exactly what they're saying. There are some great scenes in classic movies that are just loaded with meaning and emotion and there isn't a single line of vulgarity or profanity. No gratuitious "bedroom" scenes either - it's all communicated, very clearly and dramatically, with well crafted conversation.Jon Starkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07123160004981131322noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7079155051500301101.post-57709570452794064692013-07-18T07:02:01.205-04:002013-07-18T07:02:01.205-04:00I agree with you, Jon. I find vulgar and profane language to be an unpleasant distraction that is offensive and disappointing--in the movies and in real life.

On a slightly different subject, I've heard it said that the most effective dialogue, as well as body language including facial expression, occurred in old movies because they didn't have special effects or sophisticated filming techniques. So dialogue had to carry the story and sustain the audience's interest. I'm not much of a movie buff, old or new, but do you think this is true?bcreedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05050452170003087203noreply@blogger.com
